Reserva Nacional

Coyhaique

The Coyhaique National Reserve was created in may 1948 to avoid further erosion of the land surrounding the city, due to the fires that devastated it at the beginning of the 20th century, later the land was reforested with exotic pine forest so today it still coexists with the native deciduous forest. The reserve has 2150 hectares and four beautiful small lakes; the highest point is the Cinchao Mountain, 1361 meters hight, which can be reached following a 5 km long trail. It is surrounded by agricultural and grazing land and small residential plots, it is only 5 km from the Coyhaique main square and offers many trails of different difficulty and length, with amazing views of the valley and the surrounding mountain ranges.
