Pumalin Douglas Tompkins

The Pumalin Douglas Tompkins National Park was created on february 28th 2018. This park as an aproximate total area of 402.392 hectares, 293.338 of which were donated by Douglas Tompkins Conservation to the Chilean people. The Chaiten and Michimahuida volcanoes share protaginism with the leading hero of the forest, the threatened Alerce tree: 25% of the total mass of existing alerces in Chile are found in this park. The Pumalin forest covers the slope of the mountain down to the sea, creating one of the most spectacular shores in the world and where often austral dolphins and sea lions can be seen.
