The Vicente Perez Rosales NP is part of the Biosphere Reserve of the Temperate Rainforest of the Southern Andes. It is the oldest park of the country and was created in august 17th 1926, its total area is 253.780 hectares and it is almost half to the Llanquihue province. Volcanism in this area, together with tectonic and glacial processes, have been the main factors giving shape to the Andes Range. Most of the forest in the park is evergreen with a wide range of environments.
